Who Is Marcus Skeen From Lithonia High School And Why Is He Arrested?

A Lithonia High School special education aide and coach arrested following allegations of sexual misconduct was placed on administrative leave Tuesday, according to DeKalb County School District officials.

According to a felony arrest warrant obtained in DeKalb County, Marcus Skeen, a Lithonia schoolteacher, is being charged with sexual contact by an employee or agent in the first degree.

The claimed event occurred between 11:30 p.m. on March 18 and midnight on March 19. Skeen is a football coach at Lithonia High School, according to the Georgia High School Association.

Skeen met with a student off-campus two times, according to Channel 2 Action News, and the girl’s mother spotted them in late March 18.

The mother followed her daughter’s smartphone to a parking lot at the Mall at Stonecrest, where she “saw a car swaying back and forth,” according to his arrest warrant obtained by the television station.

An employee who “knowingly engages in sexually explicit activity” with a student or any other person under their supervision, according to state legislation, might be charged with a crime and sentenced to up to 50 years in prison, depending on the victim’s age.

Marcus Skeen, who was in his second year at Lithonia, was placed on paid administrative leave from his job as a special education paraprofessional until the completion of the inquiry, according to a district official. According to Donald Porter, the school district’s press secretary, the suspension is part of district policy owing to the severity of the accusations.

Porter stated in an email Tuesday that “district staff continues to fully cooperate with law enforcement in the ongoing, joint investigation by the DCSD Department of Public Safety and the DeKalb County Police Department.”
