In 1980, Sebold graduated from Malvern, Pennsylvania’s Great Valley High School. She went on to Syracuse University to complete her bachelor’s degree.
She went to the University of Houston in Texas after graduating in 1984, then relocated to Manhattan for the next ten years. While pursuing a writing career, she also worked as a waitress.
In 1998, Alice obtained a degree of Masters in Fine Arts from the University of California, Irvine.
