Guy Cecil is an American chief strategist for the pro-Hillary Clinton presidential super PAC, Priorities USA Action. Prior to this, Cecil served as the political director and executive director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. In 2008, he was the field director for Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid.

After his teaching career came to an end, Cecil moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he joined the campaign of Tom Keane Jr. Keane was running for Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional district. In 1998, Keane lost the primary election to Mike Capuano.

Cecil later went to Columbia, South Carolina to work on Fritz Hollings’  U.S. Senate campaign as the field director. In 2000, Cecil was the field director for Mel Carnahan’s  U.S. Senate campaign in Missouri. 

In 2002, Cecil ran Mark Pryor’s U.S. Senate campaign in Arkansas. He was the campaign manager in 2004 for Erskine Bowles’ Senate campaign in North Carolina. In the same year, Cecil served briefly as a consultant for Gen. Wesley Clark’s presidential campaign.

in 2005, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) Chairman Charles Schumer and Executive Director J.B. Poersch appointed Cecil as political director for the DSCC. Later In 2007, Cecil was asked to join Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.

He ran the campaign’s New Hampshire ground operation. His success in the state led to his promotion to the national political director and field director for the campaign. Between 2009 to 2010, Cecil held the position of Sen. Michael Bennet’s chief of staff. He served under Bennet as the executive director of the DSCC.
