Camilla Zaiden reportedly impersonated a man ‘Brayden Spiteri’ and catfished her friend Renae Marsden into a relationship for nearly two years. Where is she now?

A Sydney woman, Renae Marsden, intentionally jumped off the clifftop and killed herself after her breakup with her ex-boyfriend Brayden Spiteri. 

Marsden’s friend Camilla Zaiden introduced her to Brayden in late 2011 and the two eventually started dating until August 2013. 

According to 9News, Brayden was in prison for the death of his friend in a motorcycle crash and a minor assault.

Brayden alleged he smuggled a phone inside the prison and the two would communicate through text messages. Ms. Marsden wanted to marry Brayden despite the fact that she’d never met or seen him.

After Marsden committed suicide, the police investigated her so-called boyfriend Brayden as something did not add up. All the evidence suggested that Brayden did not exist and was impersonated by her jealous and possessive friend Camilla Zaiden herself.

Where Is Camilla Zaiden Now?

Camilla Zaiden’s current whereabouts are unknown. She maintained a low profile after Renae Marden’s death and stayed out of media scrutiny. 

Although the prosecutor emphasized that Zaiden catfished her friend into a fake relationship due to her personal jealousy and possessiveness, she was never charged with Marsden’s murder. 

This is because catfishing is not technically a crime in Australia. However, Marsden’s parents are seeking answers in relation to her death and want the complete truth to come out in the open.

Renae Marsden, born in 1992, sent an alarming text to her mother Teresa Marsden on the day of her death. She committed suicide on August 5, 2013. 

Teresa tried calling her daughter after receiving her text but there was no answer. The police located Marsden’s car at a cliff overlooking an ocean in Sydney. 

The CCTV footage showed Marden climbed down the cliff and intentionally slipped from the clifftop with the intention to die. The investigating team never discovered her body.

Following her death, the police interviewed her close friend Camilla Zaiden. 

“I find that Renae Marsden died of fatal fall injuries after she deliberately slipped from the cliffs … after the termination of a relationship with person whose identity was fabricated and created for the purposes of exercising control and coercion…”

Ms. Zaiden informed the authorities that Marsden was dating a guy named Brayden Spiteri before her death. They had broken up a few days before she took her life. 

When the police further looked into the matter, they found out Brayden was a made-up personality and did not exist at all. The police checked Marden’s messages with Brayden, finding evidence of them having intimate phone conversations.

In 2013, Marsden also told Brayden about Ms. Zaiden’s abusive behavior towards and expressed the desire to end their friendship.

However, Brayden was against the idea. Afterward, Zaiden admitted that she and Marsden made up the fake boyfriend story to cover their lesbian relationship.

Police deduced that Zaiden was in love with Marsden, could not handle her intimate relationship with other men and thus created the fake persona with the name Brayden to coerce and control her life. 

Camilla Zaiden Ex-Boyfriend And Parents Details

Camilla Zaiden was married to her husband Michael around 2013. 

It’s unknown if the pair is still married or are already separated. There are also no details available about her ex-boyfriends.

Further, any information about Zaiden’s parents is not available at the moment.
