The Scarlet Opera Band Members

The Scarlet Opera band members are Luka Bazulka, Colin Kenrick, Daniel Zuker, Justin Siegal, and Chance Taylor. Luka is the frontman of the musical group.

The band was initially known as Perta and was formed in 2016 when Bazulka, an alum of the California Institute of the Arts met fellow CalArts students Zulker and Kenrick.

The trio was soon joined by Siegal and Taylor from Boston, and they created a funk/rock crossover band in the same vein as Prince, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury.

Perta released their debut single, From Fire, on March 29, 2018, and amassed over 2.2 million plays on the song, and almost 17K listeners on Spotify. The band was even interviewed by the famous music magazine, Paper.

Due to a lack of label response, the band rebranded itself as The Scarlet Opera in 2022, and during a performance, caught the eye of Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun.

Coming into Scooter Braun’s circle helped them gain a footing in the recording sphere and the band has since been signed to Republic Records.

So far, the band has released three singles, with their debut EP, Comedy, coming out on March 24, 2023. The band has recently gained more prominence for performing their third single, Alive, on the popular talk show, The Late Late Show with James Corden on March 1, 2023.

Luka Bazulka Is The Vocalist

The Scarlet Opera band members is led by the frontman Luka Bazulka. Luka is the band’s vocalist.

A vision of flamboyance and style, Luka is not only the singer but also the main lyricist of the band.

The singer has become instantly recognizable for his ephemeral style that borrows from the Glam Rock stars of the past like Bowie, Prince, and Mercury.

Luka was born and raised in Lehigh Valley, a small town in the state of Pennsylvania.

The singer comes from a musically rich family as his father is a big fan of music, especially the hair metal and the glam rock of the 70s and 80s like Guns N’ Roses, which has influenced Luka’s vocal stylings.

Soon after graduating college, the singer went to study acting at the prestigious California Institute of Arts in Santa Clarita.

Unfortunately, he decided that neither acting nor CalArts was for him, and left soon after, moving to Los Angeles so he could dive head first into a solo music career.

The singer spent his pre-band time in LA writing about heartbreak, his relationship with various boys, and growing up Queer, but ultimately felt dissatisfied with those songs. While busking one night, his vocals impressed his future bandmates who happened to be nearby, which led to them jamming and deciding to create Perta.

Aside from music, Luka is also a big fan of modeling and designing and makes and designs clothing with his friend Markivious Spicer.

Colin Kenrick Is The Keyboardist

Colin Kenrick rocks the keyboard for The Scarlet Opera. Colin was born on June 28.

The keyboardist is the most important member when it comes to the band’s formation as it was he who first noticed Luka’s singing and then coaxed the rest of the band to start playing with him.

Also, according to the aforementioned interview with Paper, the band used to practice in Colin’s room during those early days in Perta.

In those early days, Colin used to play the guitar but has since switched to keyboards. The musician is also very open on Instagram and loves sharing family photos, outings, and his adventures on the site.

Prior to starting his music career, Colin used to travel a lot and was in the Asian country, Nepal, shortly before the 2015 earthquake. The musician’s family background is also very liberal, and he has two siblings, one of whom is queer.

Speaking of relationships, Colin is engaged to Brooke Feeder, an entrepreneur who is the owner of the Women’s clothing store, Femelle Boutique Shopping. Brooke is a fairly famous figure on Instagram and has over 1.2K followers on her account. 

Her boutique is also fairly popular and has over 3.5K followers on its own account on Instagram. There, she sells various articles of clothing ranging from dresses, shirts, pants, and more through the Femelle website and Instagram mart. 

The two have been together for over a decade and started dating on August 11, 2010. Eleven years after they started their relationship, Colin proposed to Brooke on October 15, 2021, at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, but has not yet announced when the wedding will take place. 

Daniel Zuker Is The Bassist

Daniel Zuker plays the bass guitar for the glam rock band The Scarlet Opera.

Like Luka, Daniel also studied at the California Institute of Arts, though he only met Luka after they had both left the band. Daniel is the member who is the most thankful for the band, and the heart who kept the band going during those rough early days as Perta. 

Though not as ornate and opulent as Luka, Daniel has his fair share of love for glamour and often partakes in the fabulousness that Luka brings to the group.

The bassist’s Instagram is filled with pictures and videos of him showing off his Elvis-inspired style, and his glorious tufts of chest hair that directly contrast with the frontman, Luka’s chiseled hairless body, making them a study in contrast.

Aside from music, the bassist is also a lover of fishing and has more than a fair share of fishing photos on his page. Daniel has a deep love for the pastime that not many of his bandmates seem to share, but he has other ways of spending time with them.

On stage, Daniel becomes a madman and is known to flail around and move his body, which is a rarity amongst bassists, as the role is stereotypically known to fix the musician on a set part of the stage. Not Daniel, as he shakes, jives, and moves his body all over the place.

Like Colin, Daniel is also in a serious relationship, and his girlfriend’s name is Liz Faulkner. The two have been together since at least June 2019, and like Brooke, Liz is also an avid supporter of Daniel and the band and has seen many of their shows.

Justin Siegal Is The Drummer

Justin Siegal plays the drums and the rest of the percussions on The Scarlet Opera.

Like Chance, Justin is a later addition to the band than the preceding three members of the band, however, he has been there from the Perta days. The two are from Boston unlike the other three. 

Justin, whose full name is Justin Zachary Siegal, is the least extroverted member of the band and does not share much of his life on social media like the rest of the band. Compared to his bandmates who have upwards of hundreds of posts on Instagram, Justin only has nine posts, and not many among them feature his likeness.

Aside from the rest of the band, Siegal is also really close with the group’s manager, Zac Cohen, and has known him since the two were children. The drummer even shared a picture of the two as children on his Instagram in a rare showing of intimacy. 

Chance Taylor Is The Guitarist

Chance Taylor is the last but not the least band member of the Scarlet Opera.

Like Justin, guitar player Chance joined the group later than the other members of the band, and is also from Boston.

His similarities with Justin don’t end there as he is the second member in terms of the least amount of posts on Instagram, and is as unkeen on sharing his personal life as his drummer.

At 11 posts, Chance has two more than Justin, but unlike the drummer who has used up all his posts displaying the band, Chance has used his Instagram to publicize his other ventures.

Firstly, the guitarist is partnered with the slide guitar slink company Ernie Ball, and his first post on the website is a video where he shows off just how he uses the product. 

Not just the slinky, the guitarist has publicized many other products from the company and even uses their guitars exclusively.

Chance’s guitar of choice recently seems to be the Stingray which is produced by Ernie Ball Music Man, the guitar and bass manufacturing section of the Ernie Ball company. 

Chance may also be the most physically low-key member of the band as many have noted his dressing sense, usually, a T-Shirt and jeans are directly in contrast with the more flamboyant Luka who is usually a human representation of a flamingo. 

Aside from music, Chance is also related to the Modo Yoga Studio, which is a Yoga studio in Los Angeles, which he has publicized on his Instagram bio.
