Preston Dunlap is the first person n the U.S. Department of Defense to fulfill the role of chief architect officer. During one of his interviews, he mentioned that they are falling behind the commercial base in key areas.

He handed in his resignation on Monday after serving three years in the U.S. Space Force and U.S. Air Force. He was responsible for pushing more technology into a $70 billion budget for research, acquisition, and development.

Dunlap hasn’t suggested if he is moving to new organizations on any of his social media. The chief of media operations at the Department of the Air Force, Ann Stefanek has said that Dunlap had “worked tirelessly” for three years.

His resignation came after two other senior tech officials in the U.S. Department of Defense resigned.
