Garcia attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and matriculated in 1983. She also has a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. Garcia’s family was always fashionable and cosmopolitan; she developed a great love for fashion, so she later attended the Esmod (Ecole Superieure de la Mode) in Paris, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising in 1992 from the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Soon after, Garcia became a fashion journalist at a women’s magazine “Mirabella”, as assistant stylist and marketing editor.
