Talking with Daily Mail, she revealed she has been cancer-free for nine years then, and looking back. She understood why she got cancer.
She encouraged people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion. According to Wikipedia, Etheridge suffered breast cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy in October 2004.
A strong artist, Melissa, returned to the stage although she was bald from chemotherapy. She not only inspired millions of women to be strong, but also she became a national breast cancer awareness spokeswoman.
The artist became an advocate and got an award for breast cancer in the following years. Fortunately, she defeated cancer and came back to her regular life.
