Despite being born in Hartsville, she spent her formative years in Gallatin. Kimberley has an older brother Ashley; their parents divorced when the two of them were children. Kimberley loved singing from an early age, and started singing in church when she was five years old. She was looking up to singers such as Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston, who had an influence on her later career. Kimberley graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, then auditioned for ‘’American Idol’’ at the age of 24, singing ‘’Over the Rainbow’’. She passed to the next round and went on to compete in December of 2002. Having finished the competition in the third place, Locke caught the attention of the media and gained recognition, and subsequently signed a deal with Curb Records in 2003. As of the following year, she released the album entitled ‘’One Love’’, which was critically acclaimed, and its lead single ‘’8th World Wonder’’ earned a spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was successful on other charts too. As of today, it holds a score of four out of five stars on Amazon. Following in the same manner, the singles ‘’Wrong’’ and ‘’I Could’’ were successful as well.
Locke continued creating music throughout the mid-2000s as well. She released ‘’Up on the House Top’’ in 2005, which received a positive response. In the upcoming period, she also worked on her version of ‘’Jingle Bells’’, which ended up taking high spots on the music charts. In 2006, she appeared on ‘’Celebrity Fit Club’’, a reality television series following the lives of overweight celebrities and their journey to losing weight. She also released an album entitled ‘’Christmas’’, which is only available digitally, then prior to the release of the album entitled ‘’Based on a True Story’’, the lead single ‘’Superwoman’’ was on the radios as of mid-2006, followed by ‘’Change’’ and ‘’Band of Gold’’, the latter a cover of Freda Payne’s 1970 song, which ended up becoming Kimberley’s sixth solo Top 10 hit. Later on, another single entitled ‘’Fall’’, written in collaboration with Clay Mills was published; all three previously mentioned singles entered Billboard’s dance club chart, peaking at number one. She went on to release the whole album in 2007.
However, Kimberley left Curb Records in 2009 only to be recruited by Dream Merchant 21 record label. She insisted on creating singles instead of full albums, and released ‘’Strobelight’’ in 2010, which peaked in fifth spot on U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs. In 2011, she announced her new entertainment company ‘’I AM Entertainment’’. As of the more recent past, Locke released ‘’Feel the Love’’, a critically acclaimed song that reached number one on Dance and Pop charts.
In her personal life, Kimberley Locke is still single, but was engaged to Donald Campbell from 2004 to 2005, and has been in relationships with Harvey Walden IV and Noel Ashman.
