Jordyn Taylor Career

Taylor was 15 when she signed her first record deal. Manta Productions signed her in 2005 and took her a step into the music world. Over the years, she became famous after posting most of her music on her MySpace page. She had over 52 million plays on the now-defunct social media platform. The highlight of her career came in 2009 when she wrote Accessory as the soundtrack of the romantic comedy film Confessions of a Shopaholic. On 25 January 2014, she called it quits in her music career in a lengthy blog post.

She signed on with Manta Productions at the age of 15, to begin production on an album. The album lasted for about a year and a half as it ended after Taylor came into contact with Mark Jackson and Ian Scott who helped her with a different sound. Jordyn was quickly rising on MySpace music charts, around this time, especially with the release of the song “Strong,” which made her the number-one unsigned artist on MySpace and was referred to by industry vets and fans as the “Official MySpace Princess.” As of May 2013, Taylor has roughly 52 million plays on the social networking site.

Jordyn Taylor Interscope Records

Taylor signed on with Interscope Records, a few years after the release of her single Strong. By the time she got signed, she was already performing hosting duties for a MySpace music-themed talk show, interviewing several celebrity guests including Carrie Underwood, Ryan Tedder, and LMFAO.

The song “Accessory” was included in the soundtrack for the film Confessions of a Shopaholic, in February 2009. She has written songs and recorded with industry vets such as Darkchild, Fernando Garibay, and RedOne. As nothing took off the way Taylor was anticipating she asked for a release from her contract in 2010, shortly after the release of her single “Female Intuition,” which failed to chart.

She took a few months off from recording and writing in early 2010 after she was released from her contract up to the fall of that same year when she started writing and recording exclusively with Jeff Victuelles and Matt Wong. Taylor claimed that she intended on releasing the album independently at first but come early 2011, she was approached by STARBASE, an R&B music label in Japan. Taylor recorded and wrote her self-titled debut album, “Jordyn Taylor,” along with Matt Wong and Jeff Victuelles, from September 2010 to January 2012.

In March 2012, the album was released and it was a hit, reaching a top-10 position on Japan’s R&B iTunes chart. Critical reception was strong; fan favorites on the album consisted of the lead single “Never Again,” “Stuck” and “Be the Same,” a pop ballad about the recent passing of Jordyn’s fiancé. Jordyn promoted the album with various shows in Japan, throughout the year. She later in July 2012, departed from StarBase and began her contract with Space Shower Music.

Jordyn crossed over from being labeled “R&B” to “Pop” along with her new label, as shown in her next album, “Shine.” She later reunited with Matt Wong to create the album in roughly two months. The album was also well-received, by the public taking a more dance-oriented direction in the two singles, “Set Me Free” and “It’s VABENE”, which featured DJ HELLO KITTY.
