Ian Rapoport’s father Fred is a doctor in Beth Israel Hospital in New York City while his mother Esta M. Rapoport serves as an adjunct professor at Fordham University in New York. He has a brother, Jake Rapoport who is a creator of RedZone Replay and a writer of baseball.

Ian Rapoport attended Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York, graduating in 1998. He later joined Columbia University from where he earned a BA in History in 2002.

Ian Rapoport started his career for the Jackson Clarion-Ledger in 2004 covering the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He joined the NFL Network in 2012.
