A 12-year-old boy has been killed by Philadelphia police after allegedly shooting at police. Officials say, Thomas Siderio Jr., 12, was in possession of a stolen 9MM pistol, which was found at the scene.

Philadelphia police say a 12-year-old boy was shot dead by police after a police shooting in South Philadelphia. He has been recognized as Thomas Siderio Jr.

Authorities said four South Task Force officers were patrolling the unmarked vehicle as part of a search operation at 18th and Johnston Street around 7:24 p.m.

Police said police spotted two men in the 18-year-old area with Barbara, one of whom was wanted for questioning on social media about a stolen gun.

Neighbors said Thomas Siderio Jr was a problem child. He was reported missing at the age of 11 but was found two days later. Police drove towards the two men, stopped a few feet away, and turned on the red and blue emergency lights in their unmarked car, police said. According to police, it was then that police heard gunshots and the sound of glass shattering the passenger window.

One of the officers was hit by pieces of glass on his face and eyes. Police said the bullet entered the rear window glass, slammed the interior door, and then passed the passenger’s head before stopping at the side of the car.

Two police officers got out of the car and fired at Siderio, who said he was still carrying his firearm. Police said one of the officers fired twice, hitting Siderio in the upper right, and a bullet came out of his chest on the left.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7.29 pm. The shot was taken from a metal camera taped to the door near the 18th and Barbara. where the first and then four gunshots can be heard.

Thomas Siderio Jr Shot By Police?

A 12-year-old boy was shot dead by a Philadelphia police officer Tuesday night after a bullet was fired at a police car, authorities said.

Police said Siderio’s rifle, a 9MM laser-lined gun, was reported stolen. The firearm was found at the scene and was found with one round in the room and five in the magazine, police said.

Another boy who was 17-year-old, wanted for questioning over a firearms investigation, was arrested by police but released during the investigation. Thomas’s stepfather told Action News he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police identified the man as Thomas Siderio Jr. and took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead just minutes after the shooting. A police statement described Siderio as white.

Siderio was a seventh-grader at George W. Sharswood Elementary School in South Philadelphia, according to a District School spokesman.

Police officers involved in the shooting have been placed on probation pending the outcome of an investigation.
